The Advisory Committee of the Attorney General's Task Force on American Indian and Alaska Native Children Exposed to Violence holds its first public hearing on Monday.

The hearing takes place at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck, North Dakota. Associate Attorney General Tony West, along with members of the task force, will take testimony from members of the public, according to a press release.

Attorney General Eric Holder announced the creation of the task force at the White House Tribal Nations Conference last month. The group will make recommendations to address the impact of violence on American Indian and Alaska Native children.

Three additional hearings are being planned, with a final report due in fall 2014.
