Wanda Batchelor resigns as first woman to run Washoe Tribe

Wanda Batchelor has resigned as chairwoman of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California.

Batchelor, who was the first woman to lead the tribe, stepped down after learning of a recall petition against her. Despite a long career in tribal politics, she decided it wasn't worth the fight.

“I didn’t resign because I did anything wrong. I resigned because I was tired of fighting the battle with blackhearted people," Batchelor told The Nevada Appeal.
