Indian Peaks Band breaks ground on first economic project

The Indian Peaks Band of Paiute Indians broke ground on an RV park on Monday.

The Indian Peaks RV Campground is the first economic development project for the band, the smallest within the Utah Paiute Tribe. The facility will feature 37 RV spots, five tent spots and a club house.

“Since we’ve been reinstated 33 years ago this April 3rd, we have had nothing. The land that we were given we did nothing with because we had no money. This is our first project,” Chairwoman Anthonia Tom said at the groundbreaking, The St. George's Spectrum & Daily News reported.
