Landowner says offers made for Wounded Knee massacre site

A landowner says he's received three offers to buy the site of the 1890 Wounded Knee massacre.

James Czywczynski said the buyers were all willing to pay the $3.9 million asking price for the 40-acre site. But he said he will hold off until May 1 in hopes of getting the Oglala Sioux Tribe to buy the land.

Czywczynski also wants the tribe to buy an another 40-acre site for $1 million. Tribal leaders have balked at the price, since the land for the Wounded Knee portion was appraised at $7,000.
