BPA seeks public comment on Umatilla Tribes salmon hatchery

The Bonneville Power Administration held two public hearing this week on a salmon hatchery for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

The hatchery would be located on the South Fork Walla Walla River in Oregon and Washington. The tribe wants to raise spring Chinook salmon to complement its adult salmon holding and spawning hatchery.

BPA has $12 million to spend on the Walla Walla Basin Spring Chinook Hatchery Program. Comments are being accepted until April 29.
