A Tribe Called Red adds political message to musical styles

A Tribe Called Red, a Native group based in Ontario, isn't afraid to add a political message to its unique style of music.

The group consists of three DJs who mix contemporary music with powwow and Native sounds. During shows, one DJ projects stereotypical and unflattering images of Indians onto the walls.

We like to call it ‘active decolonization’ or ‘indiginizing,’” Ian “Dee Jay NDN” Campeau told The Washington Post.

The group is on tour in support of Nation II Nation.
