Ex-law firm worker pleads guilty in theft from Seminole Tribe

A former employee of a law firm pleaded guilty for her role in stealing from the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Maria Hassun, 66, was the officer manager for a firm run by Frank Excel Marley III, 39. Federal authorities say they overcharged the tribe by $1 million.

Hassun admitted to one count of theft from an Indian tribal organization, The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. She agreed to pay restitution of $148,658 and faces time in prison, the paper said.
