YouTube: Secretary Sally Jewell speaks to NCAI Mid Year Conference
Interior Secretary Sally Jewell spoke at the mid-year conference of the National Congress of American Indians today. The speech was Jewell's first before NCAI since being confirmed as the leader of the Interior Department. In it, she pledged to uphold the federal government's trust responsibilities and to respect tribal self-governance and self-determination. "You know better than any of us do what you need in your tribe and in your communities," Jewell told tribal leaders. NCAI concludes its conference in Reno, Nevada, today. Related Stories:
