Blog: Former player calls Washington football mascot offensive

A former player and current NFL team executive doesn't like the name of the Washington Redskins either:
Mark Murphy, the president and chief executive officer of the Packers, played defensive back for the Washington Redskins during his eight seasons in the NFL, including one of the team’s championship years (1982).

“I don’t know if there is any way you can change Redskins,” Murphy said. “The owner, Dan Snyder, has come out very strong that he will never change the name. But I am sensitive. It’s a name that’s very derogatory to a lot of people.”
