Sen. Baucus cites large number of child victims on reservations

An average of 7,500 children are victimized on reservations every year, according to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Montana).

Baucus cited the large number during a conference with tribal leaders on Tuesday. News reports did not say where the figure came from.

"We all have an obligation all of us in Montana, on and off the reservation, to do something about [it]," Baucus said, MTN News reported.

Baucus also said one in three Native American women have been raped or sexually assaulted, a widely-reported statistic
