Lawsuit accuses leader of Muscogee Nation of physical abuse

A woman is accusing George Tiger, the principal chief of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, of abuse.

Johnna Townsend says she has been having an affair with Tiger for years. She claims he has physically abused her and has used tribal employees -- including his relatives -- to harass her and cover up the relationship.

Townsend filed the suit in state court. She apparently tried to subpoena Tiger to appear in a hearing regarding a protective order against two tribal employees.

The tribe's attorney general said the state courts do not have jurisdiction over the tribe and its agents.
