Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe sells off wild horses

The Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada made a deal to sell 148 horses that were left over from a controversial auction.

At its own cost, the tribe rounded up 400 horses and put them up for auction. The tribe was forced to spend even more money after animal rights groups went to court to block the sale.

The tribe eventually prevailed and was able to sell most of the horses. A final deal to sell the remaining 148 for $200 a head was made last week.
