Grand Ronde Tribes sign up as investor in 'green' business

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon have invested in a "green" technology business.

MicroGreen Polymers makes food and beverage containers from recycled plastic. The tribe contributed a $10 million investment in the company.

"MicroGREEN's technology is a game changer," Titu Asghar, the tribe's economic development director, said in a press release. "Their ability to reduce waste while lowering cost and improving product performance fits the Grand Ronde Tribe's commitment to sustainability and environment."

Grand Ronde heard about the company from the Stillaguamish Tribe of Washington, which invested $5 million earlier this year. MicroGREEN is based near the tribe's reservation.
