Theresa Spence wins Attawapiskat First Nation re-election

Chief Theresa Spence of the Attawapiskat First Nation in Ontario won her re-election bid.

Spence drew international headlines, and controversy, when she embarked on a six-week hunger strike to raise awareness of housing and other conditions on the reserve. She promised to do more after winning another three-year term.

"It really helps, just knowing that they trust me," Spence told CBC News, referring to her successful campaign.

Spence said she will look for ways to generate more revenues for the band.
