Seven arrested in protest outside Blackfeet Nation headquarters

Seven people, including a suspended council member, were arrested on Tuesday in a protest at the Blackfeet Nation headquarters.

The group characterized the event as a peaceful takeover of the tribal council. They said they had permission from the tribe's traditional court to remove Chairman Willie Sharp Jr. and four others from office.

But tribal police moved in and arrested seven people, including Cheryl Little Dog, who was suspended last year after participating in an attempt to remove Sharp. The seven were charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
