Lytton Band spent over $47M on land acquisitions in two years

The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians in California has spent more than $47 million on land acquisitions in just the last two years, The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports.

The tribe has acquired more than 1,300 acres in Sonoma County. The purchases include land near the tribe's original homeland.

“For the tribe it’s significant. It’s near its homeland,” attorney Larry Stidham told the paper.

The tribe has one land-into-trust application pending at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The tribe plans to use a 124-acre site for housing and a cultural center.
