Lac du Flambeau Band won't be amending constitution

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Wisconsin won't be amending its constitution after tribal members voted against change.

The tribe asked members to remove a provision in the constitution that requires all changes to be submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval. The proposal was rejected as only 40 voted for it while 72 voted against, according to the results.

Other changes, mainly to the election process, were also rejected by the vote.
