Organizer of Lumbee Tribe recall effort loses home to arson

A member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina who is trying to recall Chairman Paul Brooks lost his home to a fire on Sunday night.

Eric Locklear believes the fire, which is being investigated as arson, is tied to the recall effort. “It was definitely an attempt to kill,” the 49-yera-old activist told The Robesonian.

Locklear wasn't at home at the time of the blaze. Neighbors reported seeing someone unusual running in the area.

Locklear is leading the Lumbee Revolution in hopes of unseating Brooks, who has clashed with the council repeatedly and is facing an assault charge.
