Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes install new leaders

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana have a new leader, well two, to be exact.

Ron Trahan and Vernon Finley will each serve one year as chairman after the council deadlocked 5-5 repeatedly on Friday, the Associated Press reported. Trahan will serve this year and Finley will serve in 2015.

The men succeed Joe Durglo, who was ousted in the general election last month. In total, tribal members ousted four of five incumbents who ran for re-election.

The council has 10 seats.
