St. Croix Tribe offers $5K reward in fatal hit-and-run case

The St. Croix Chippewa Indians in Wisconsin are offering a $5,000 reward for information about a fatal hit-and-run.

Richard L. Cobenais Jr., 41, and Benjamin R. Juarez, 28, were killed on January 11. Witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck leaving the Round Lake Native American Community after the men were struck.

“Over the next three days, family members are going to be planning funerals for those that were involved in this incident,” Tribal Police Chief Frank Taylor told The Polk County Sun. “It is important and imperative that people with knowledge of this accident report it so we can start the healing process. Our tribal communities are very tight knit and in order to start that healing process, we need to have leads and tips come in.”
