Colorado bill clarifies Indian tax exemption for vehicle sales





A bill in the Colorado Legislature clarifies that tribal members whose vehicles are registered in Indian Country are exempt from state sales tax.

House Bill 1080 codifies a long-held state policy towards the tax exemption. Leaders of the Southern Ute Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe support the measure.

The House Finance Committee approved the bill by a 12-0 vote on Thursday.
