Steven Thomas, a former treasurer of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Steven Thomas pleaded guilty to one count of theft from an Indian tribal organization. He admitted that he inflated pay cards when he worked in the tribe's natural resources department.

Thomas faces 12 to 18 months in prison, the Associated Press reported. He has agreed to pay $177,603 in restitution to the tribe.

Thomas's brother, former chairman Michael Thomas, also was found guilty of stealing from the tribe. He was sentenced to 18 months but is appealing.
