Nooksack Tribe heads into election amid disenrollment dispute

A disenrollment dispute within the Nooksack Tribe of Washington is a hot topic this election season.

Chairman Bob Kelly has been defending efforts to remove 306 people from the rolls. His rival for the post, George Adams, hopes to stop the process if he wins the race.

"We don't want a name, other than we're tribal members trying to do the right thing. I think the coalition stands for righting the wrongs and going forward with healing," Adams told The Bellingham Herald. Four other candidates also oppose the disenrollment proceedings.

The general election will be held March 15.
