Trial set for death of murder of boy on Rocky Boy's Reservation

A Montana woman is scheduled to go to trial in April for the death of an 11-month-old boy on the Rocky Boy's Reservation.

Cecilia Gardipee is charged with second-degree murder and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Federal authorities say she severely beat Kaidynce Small to death last October.

The boy's father, Garrett “Kirby” LaFromboise, was also indicted for the murder. But he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and is expected to testify against Gardipee, who is described as his girlfriend.

Gardipee was due to go to trial last earlier this month but her attorneys asked for more time to review the evidence. They are now seeking to have the charges dismissed, saying federal prosecutors were slow to turn over information.
