House panel schedules hearing on Alaska Native subsistence bill

The House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs will hold a hearing next week on the proposed Alaska Native Subsistence Co-Management Demonstration Act of 2014.

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), the chairman of the subcommittee, has circulated a discussion copy of the bill. It would authorize a demonstration program that allows for state, federal and tribal co-management of wildlife throughout the traditional hunting territory of the Ahtna people.

The hearing takes place on Friday, March 14, at 11am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building.
