Fort Sill Apache Tribe to mark 100 years of freedom in Oklahoma

The Fort Sill Apache Tribe will celebrate 100 years of freedom in Oklahoma this weekend.

The tribe's ancestors were held as prisoners of war for 28 years. They were taken from their homelands in New Mexico to Florida and were eventually brought to Oklahoma in 1914.

The tribe participated in a similar ceremony last year with the Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico, whose ancestors were released in 1913.
