Audio from Senate Indian Affairs Committee's hearing on budget

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee held a hearing this afternoon to discuss the fiscal year 2015 budget request for Indian programs.

The committee spent a lengthy amount of time with Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Yvette Roubideaux, the acting director of the Indian Health Service. Both faced questions about the adequacy of their agency's budgets, contract support costs and staffing.

The committee also heard from two tribal leaders at the hearing, which lasted about 1 hour and 47 minutes. Audio can be found on the Indianz.Com SoundCloud.
