Alaska Native man faces charges for deaths of 2 state troopers





An Alaska Native man was arrested in connection with the deaths of two state troopers in the village of Tanana. His father was arrested on other charges.

Nathanial Lee Kangas, 19, is accused of shooting Sgt. Patrick “Scott” Johnson and Gabriel “Gabe” Rich. Authorities believe he killed the troopers outside his family's home on Thursday

Nathanial Kangas, 58, the father, was charged with fourth degree assault and driving with a license revoked. He allegedly had a confrontation with a village public safety officer on Wednesday night, an incident that led to the arrival of the state troopers in Tanana on Thursday

Additional details are expected to be announced today.
