Newspaper criticizes county official in Utah for proposing an illegal ATV ride through Recapture Canyon, which is home to ancestral Indian villages and other archaeological resources:
It's hard to believe that a Utah county commissioner — of all people — would be organizing an illegal ATV ride through protected American Indian ruins in a clear effort to defy the federal government.

It's shameful.

The dispute might seem like a skirmish between Utah locals and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, but given the recent experience with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, the planned illegal ATV ride takes on greater significance.

It's one thing to engage in vehement disagreement with the government. But it's another entirely to encourage people to break the law, particularly when it involves potential damage to ecological and historic resources.
