Coal company starts exploratory drilling on Crow Reservation





Cloud Peak Energy will start exploratory drilling under a coal development agreement with the Crow Tribe of Montana.

The reservation is home to a 1.4-billion ton coal reserve. Cloud Peak will be confirming the quantity and quality of the deposit over the next year, a spokesperson told the Associated Press.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the agreement last June.
