Authorities in Austin, Texas, are seeking information about a human skull that was donated to a Goodwill store.

Authorities haven't said whether the skull belonged to an Indian person. It likely came from a private collection for the use of medical or anthropological purposes.

"APD does not believe that the skull was involved in a crime, but would like to find the person(s) who donated it," the Austin Police Department said in an alert. "Detectives believe that the item may have been part of a private collection."

In July, a Goodwill store in Bellevue, Washington, reported the donation of the remains of an Indian child. Authorities haven't said whether they were able to determine its origin.
