Tribes to receive meat from slaughter of Yellowstone bison

Tribes are due to receive meat, hide and other parts from bison that wander out of Yellowstone National Park.

Anywhere from 300 to 600 bison are expected to be slaughtered this year. The animals are taken by hunters when they wander out of the park and into Montana.

“We do have some agreements with tribal entities to take those animals this year,” park spokesperson Al Nash told The Billings Gazette. “But everything is very dependent on the bison migrating in significant numbers.”
