Former leader of Cedarville Rancheria accused of mass shooting

A former leader of the Cedarville Rancheria of California is in custody after authorities said she opened fire at the tribal office on Thursday afternoon, killing four people, including three family members.

Sherie Lash, 44, who is also known as Sherie Rhoades, was facing removal from the reservation, KRCR-TV reported. She allegedly shot and killed four people -- including her brother, Rurik Davis, who was serving as chairman -- during an eviction hearing.

The other three victims were identified as Angel Penn, 19, Lash's niece; Glenn Calonicco, 30, Lash's nephew; and Sheila Russo, 47.

Two more people were also wounded by gunfire and remain in critical condition, The Redding Record-Searchlight reported. One of them suffered stab wounds when Lash ran out of ammunition and grabbed a knife.

Lash and her son were both facing eviction, according to news reports. The son was at the hearing but his whereabouts haven't been reported.

Lash is facing various charges, including murder, attempted murder, child endangerment and brandishing a weapon. Children were present in the building at the time of the incident, authorities said.
