House Interior Appropriations panel to hear from Indian Country

Dozens of tribal leaders and representatives of Indian organizations are on Capitol Hill this week to share their views with lawmakers who control the federal government's purse strings.

The House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies has scheduled two days of testimony from Indian Country witnesses. Today alone, nearly 40 will present to the panel, whose members are responsible for drafting a bill that will fund the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians and the Indian Health Service.

Written testimony can also be sent to the subcommittee. The deadline in Thursday, April 10.
