The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Wisconsin is banning 28 non-members from the reservation as part of the tribe's war on drugs.

The 28 non-members must leave within 48 hours. They are barred from returning to the reservation for five years under the threat of criminal and civil penalties.

"We have a moral and ethical obligation to protect our Elders, children and families," President Tom Maulson said in a press release. "These are very tough decisions; removing someone from our Reservation is not something we take lightly and we do so with heavy hearts. The end goal is to ensure a safe and wholesome environment for our law abiding tribal Members, residents and visitors."

Last year, the tribe issued 58 exclusions to non-members.
