The New York State Assembly unanimously passed a resolution that condemns the use of racial slurs in sports.

K01202 targets the NFL, whose organization is based in New York, and the Washington NFL team. It notes that the R-word is defined as a slur against Native Americans.

"Today is so significant because this resolution signifies that New York is making a statement that it wants to stand on the right side of history," Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter said in a press release on Monday, when the bill passed ."New York’s lawmakers clearly understand how important state legislatures have been to previous movements against pathologies like bigotry and inequality.”
