Native woman in stable condition after attack in Saskatchewan

A Native woman who was the victim of a horrific attack in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, is reported to be in stable condition.

Marlene Darlene Bird, 47, suffered severe burns and had to have one of her legs amputated. The June 1 attack has galvanized the Native community.

“She was harmless -- she didn’t hurt anybody,” niece Jamie Bird said at a march on Friday, The Prince Albert Daily Herald reported.

Authorities don't have any suspects and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Police chief Chief Troy Cooper took part in the march.
