Sara Robinson, a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe who served as liaison to the state of Wyoming, resigned on Monday.

Robinson said she was treated differently because she is a Native woman. She never got to sit down with Gov. Matt Mead (R) despite serving in the post for more than a year.

“Being a woman in Wyoming is hard with all the boundaries; they follow you wherever you go,” Robinson told the Legislature's Joint Select Committee on Tribal Affairs, The Casper Star-Tribune reported.

Mead said scheduling conflicts and miscommunication prevent him from meeting with Robinson. He denied that she was treated differently.
