The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan is moving to remove 234 people from the rolls. The tribe sent out disenrollment letters to 169 living members and 65 deceased members, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reported Most had received similar letters in the past, prompting an attorney to question why the effort has been restarted. “These are all cases that were closed five years ago, but were filed against 234 people and previously dismissed by the tribe with prejudice,” attorney Paula Fisher told the paper. “(Prejudice) very clearly means final adjudication of the case and you’re done.” The cases have been sent to the tribe's Office of Administrative Hearings for resolution.
