August 15 is the deadline for landowners on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota to respond to offers from the Land Buy-Back Program for Tribal Nations. The Interior Department has made $50 million in offers to 11,000 landowners on the reservation. The program is entirely voluntary and any interests acquired will be transferred to the tribe. Since the program began last December, Indian landowners have received $91 million for their fractionated interests. Tribes have received more than 250,000 acres.
