Narragansett Tribe investigates stabbing at powwow grounds

The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island is investigating a stabbing that occurred at its powwow grounds.

A 37-year-old man with tribal ties was stabbed late Saturday night, according to news reports. The incident occurred after powwow festivities ended for the day.

Police chief Antone Monroe wouldn't say whether a suspect is in mind. The victim in serious condition as of this morning, The Westerly Sun reported.

The tribe holds its annual meeting and powwow every August. This year's event was the 339th in the tribe's recent recorded history.
