CBS sports announcer Greg Gumbel won't use the Washington NFL team's name on air and hasn't done so for at least the last three years.

Gumbel told The Sports Bank that he made a "personal choice" not to use the name. "I do think that they have a PR gap to jump, and whether they will make that jump or not remains to be seen," he said.

A handful of announcers have made the same choice and The Washington Post editorial board said it would no longer use the name. But the majority of news and media outlets haven't taken a position on the issue.

Gumbel's brother is news and sports journalist Bryant Gumbel.
