Oglala Sioux Tribe agrees to put national park proposal to vote

Voters of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota will decide whether to create a national park.

The tribe has been working on a proposal to manage the South Unit of the Badlands National Park. The plan has been controversial among people whose land, homes and livestock will be affected.

The election will occur within three months.
