Members of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota are in Washington, D.C., this week to help dedicate the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree.

This year's tree comes from the Chippewa National Forest, most of which lies within the boundaries of the reservation. Tribal youth provided a send-off for the tree on November 13, performing an honor song as it made its journey from Minnesota to the nation's capital.

About 180 youth are back in DC this week for the official lighting this Thursday. Tribal members will provide a drumming ceremony during the event.
