A member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Community of Arizona who was convicted of shooting two tribal police officers was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.

Micah Sobori Moquino, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of assault with intent to commit murder and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. He admitted that he shot one officer in the hand and another in the leg.

The crime occurred in November 2013 and was one in a series of incidents involving officers on the reservation. In May, officer Jair Cabrera was shot and killed on duty.

Authorities have blamed the Cabrera death on gang members on the reservation. Two men have been charged in federal court with first-degree murder.
