Cristina Danforth, the chairwoman of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, will deliver the commencement address at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay this Saturday.

Danforth graduated from the university with a degree in social work in 1988. She's gone on to serve as chair and treasurer of her tribe and is recognized nationally for her work on Indian issues.

"It is expected that, in her remarks, she will congratulate the graduates, share a sample of traditional native teaching about interdependence, and challenge UW-Green Bay’s newest alumni to serve others, the Earth and generations to come," the university said in a press release.

Including Danforth, women serve in the four top leadership positions in the Oneida Nation.
