Fish and Wildlife Service develops new tribal consultation policy

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife is updating its tribal consultation policy.

Officials will be holding two webinars next week and a consultation session next month to discuss the changes. The policy articulates the principles of the government-to-government relationship between tribes and the agency.

"We acknowledge and respect the Native American understanding of ecosystems and continue to work to strengthen and advance our mission and our collective, mutual goals to achieve on-the-ground conservation of fish and wildlife resources, the draft policy states.

Two webinars will be held next week to discuss the policy. More information follows:
