Authorities in Montana arrested a suspect who fired a gun at an off-duty officer from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.

Officer T.J. Hanes recognized James Wilson Allen as someone who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. When Hanes tried to make an arrest, Allen fired a .22 handgun but did not hit the officer.

Officers from multiple agencies later tracked Allen to a home on the reservation. He was arrested without incident and was found with the gun and several rounds of ammunition.
