The Yurok Tribe of California is nearing completion of a new justice center.

The facility will house the tribal court system as well as the wellness court. The wellness court helps give non-violent offenders who are affected by drugs or alcohol a second chance

“I think we provide this kind pf program because it’s consistent with our belief system, and we believe that we have responsibilities and that we should meet them," Chief Judge Abby Abinanti told KCRC-TV. "This is an opportunity for people to do that.”

The facility is expected to open in the next couple of months, KCRC reported.
