Authorities are investigating the death of an 11-year-old Native girl on the Garden Hill First Nation in Manitoba.

Teresa Cassandra Robinson went missing on May 5. Her body was found on Monday and it appears she had been mauled to death by an animal.

"This is like so hard. She was a brave girl," Chantelle Little, Robinson's cousin, told CBC News.

David Harper, the grand chief of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, told the Canadian Press that Robinson was on her way home when she went missing.
